ACADEMIA SHOWS GREAT INTEREST IN DISA'S BAA PROGRAM


Forty-one (41) institutions have submitted a total of 68 proposals to develop Ada courseware under the Defense Information System Agency's (DISA) Broad Area Announcements (BAA) program.

Multiple awards are expected to be made near the end of Fiscal Year (FY) 95. The products of the BAA, which will include Ada 95 courseware, will all be put in the public domain.

SIX ATIP AWARDS SUPPORT SERVICE'S Ada 95 EFFORTS


The Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Ada Joint Program Office (AJPO) has announced six awards under its Ada Technology Insertion Program (ATIP).

"The awards, valued at approximately $1 million total, will provide products and services to support the US military service's Ada 95 efforts," according to DISA/AJPO Chief Donald J. Reifer. These awards were all made on a "cost sharing basis with the services" Reifer added.

NEW Ada COLUMN WILL BE FEATURED IN JOOP


Richard Riehle, AdaWorks Software Engineering, recently wrote an article titled, "Inaugurating An Ada Column," in July's Journal of Object Oriented Programming (JOOP). The article is the first of four scheduled to be written by Riehle in JOOP. Future articles are scheduled for the September, October and November/December issues. They will focus, according to Riehle, on "Ada's warts as well as `her' virtues."
