A report from last month's Tri-Ada Conference on how Ada mixes with real-time research is featured in December's issue of Embedded Systems Programming. Written by Svend Bodilsen of DDC-I, "Scheduling Theory and Ada 9X" is intended to bring the reader up to date on recent developments in scheduling. The article establishes a common framework from which to review the most important scheduling theories, including their analytical characteristics and limitations.
Bodilsen's article looks at the implications of the different scheduling theories on system development and possible Ada 9X implementations. He closes by presenting the basic functionality of a toolset required to obtain the basic timing information needed to make the analysis of realistic systems practical.
