Cutting the Cost of Ada for Educators
Many commercial Ada vendors offer discounts on services, compilers, and entire product lines to colleges and universities for educational and research purposes. Below is list of companies offering savings to educators and contacts for obtaining further information on product and service discounts.

Ada Core Technologies, Inc.

Ada Core Technologies, Inc. offers support to universities who are using GNAT for educational and research purposes. All of the GNAT compilers are available for free. For a single license fee of $1500/yr., ACT will provide support for all platforms. GNAT running on MS-DOS is supported only under this type of support and only educational use is supported. Green Hills Software, Inc.

Green Hills Software, Inc. offers a University License Agreement which entitles educators to one year free use of the Green Hills(TM) Optimizing Ada compiler and AdaMULTI(R) Software Development Environment. The AdaMULTI Software Development Environment includes a state-of-the-art source-level debugger, program execution profiler, graphical object browser, built-in editor, version control system, source-code control and run-time error checking. The University License Agreement may be renewed once the one year time frame has expired. Intermetrics, Inc.

Intermetrics, Inc. has recently developed a product called Academic AdaMagic of which there is an academic and commercial version. Both versions run on Windows 95, x86 Windows NT, PowerPC Windows NT, HP 700 HP-UX, and SPARC Solaris. The academic product will be bundled with a CS/1 textbook, "Ada 95: Problem Solving & Program Design" and will be available in August 1996 from Addison-Wesley. It will sell for approximately $70 which includes the soft-cover copy of the textbook. The textbook alone will sell for approximately $40. To obtain the academic version, contact:

OC Systems, Inc. gives their compilers and tools to universities at no cost. Their compilers run on PowerPC (RS/6000) platforms, with AIX and LynxOS. Through this program, Rational Apex is available on the IBM RISC System/6000 and Sun SPARC processors.
