ABSTRACT

Software-First Life Cycle -- Final Definition

The Software-First Life Cycle (SFLC) is a dramatically different approach to systems development using rapid prototyping, software reuse, concurrent engineering, and other new technologies. By combining these into a well-defined, integrated, and highly concurrent process, the SFLC offers the potential for considerable improvements in software productivity, quality, and reusability.

This document formally defines each phase of the Software-First Life Cycle using the ETVX (Entry Criteria, Task, Validation, and Exit Criteria) model, and describes the input, output, and intermediate work products.
